"Sweet Pea" is SWEET!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe I finished it! I have been eyeing NexStitch's "Sweet Pea" shawl for a very long time, wondering, "Do I want to spend the $6.50 on this pattern, hoping I'll remember enough crochet to justify spending the money for the pattern--do I think I can do this?" The answer would've been a vehement "No!", even after completing my crochet classes, had I not asked my very kind and patient crochet instructor for her help with the pattern. I came across this very same pattern in Debbie Stoller's crochet book by chance and I was ELATED! Not only was the "Sweet Pea" shawl in there, but for an extra $6.00 or so, so are a bunch of other patterns and tons of crocheting advice (instead of spending the $6.50 for just the pattern at the aforementioned website).

All I have left to do is decide if I'd like to fringe it or not, and if I do, then I need to cut off the lengths of yarn for fringe and attach them. This project sure used up quite a bit of yarn; I was surprised. Crochet definitely takes more yarn than knitting, but what I truly love about crochet is the laces, so it's worth it to me.

PROGRESS ON THE AFGHAN
I am halfway through my crocheted afghan, and hopefully, I can finish it up in the next month or so. We didn't check our gauge before we began the project, and as it turns out, I crochet loosely (which surprises me, since I seem to put the chokehold on my knitting!). So it has a nice drape to it, but it crocheted out much longer than the pattern's dimensions. That's okay...it will be a nice, big, generous-sized blanket when it's all finished! :-)
