Anybody have Crohn's Disease? I was diagnosed with what I thought was ulcerative colitis nearly twenty years ago, and after eight years, much medication that didn't help to bring it under control, lots of tests, and major surgery, the pain and symptoms are back along with what I thought were blockages, but after an examination last year, the doctor says it's Crohn's Disease, probably was all along (the ulcerative colitis was a misdiagnosis). This latest flareup or whatever it is doesn't want to seem to get under control either, despite being on pretty potent medication. I haven't been able to eat much solid food without having a lot of pain for nearly 2 weeks (still having pain even when just drinking liquids), but the doctor claims that everything looks to be controlled by the medication. Well, despite what test results show, having chronic pain that is supposed to be controlled by medication is not "normal", and neither is not being able to eat solid food without excruciating pain (or having some pain when eating any solid food, for that matter). Something's going on, and I don't know enough about Crohn's Disease to know what might be causing this pain.
I'm really frustrated. Does anybody out there really get relief from taking their meds? Does the Specific Carbohydrate Diet really work/is it worth trying? I don't know how much longer I can go on mostly only liquids. Obviously my self-imposed diet of mostly liquids isn't resolving the problem, just masking it. The pain subsides a bit if I only have liquids, but it's not curing what the cause of the pain is; the minute I have regular food, the pain is back with a vengeance. All of this has made me beyond tired and very lethargic--I'll bet I could sleep all day if I could. What's going on???
