A New Hat

I made this crocheted hat fairly recently because I figured it would accomodate my poufy, curly hair! It does in fact, and it does so very cutely (a satisfied nod to the pattern designer). I had a bit of problems crocheting it because I tried doing it all in one night, in a dimly lit environment, which wasn't a good idea. Being a newer crocheter, I really need to clearly see what I'm doing since I can't go by feel. But all in all, it came out really nice. My daughter wanted to "ham it up" for the camera and have her picture taken with it on, so why not let her be the model and have some fun? After all, it got her to stand still for two seconds!

My little toddler tornado!

I've been in such a knitting/crocheting slump lately...I can't seem to get anything done. My days pass by like a blink of an eye. I don't have much motivation to do anything. I'd like to work on three shawls that I committed myself to knit, and I just can't seem to get motivated; two of them are already started, so I don't know what I'm waiting for!

I made a set of these finger puppets as a surprise gift for my nephew along with an "ABC" book I made of family members and things he likes using my computer. The finger puppets came out really cute--a satisfying crochet, because they were quick, and the detail that the pattern designer put into them really was a great touch.

I also designed my own bedjacket because I get really cold at night, and I got tired of trying to reposition a shawl many times during the night to try to cover my back and chest at the same time. It went pretty fast; I crocheted it in one weekend, and the best part is, the yarn cost was only $6.00 because I bought sale yarn--yay!!! I wanted something kind of boxy so it would be roomy and comfortable, something with wider sleeves so that it wouldn't be binding on my arms, and lots of lacy trim on it. I even added an eyelet row for a beaded lace effect, but the ribbon keeps slipping...I'll have to decide whether this is something that I want to keep on there or not. If I keep the ribbon, I'll have to figure out a way to secure it adequately. I crocheted some roses and those are the closures; I secured the roses onto shank buttons that way I can put the roses through any of the crocheted spaces to secure it, but if I choose to go without securing the bedjacket, I can leave the roses off. When I get some time I'll have to post a picture. It's nothing really intricate or fancy, but the design came out exactly as I had hoped, and it is exactly what I was hoping for in the way of keeping warm. I may have to make myself some making slippers so I have a matching "emsemble".
