Cross One off the List!

Yay! Happy new year to me! My crocheted skirt is done! It took about three days of intense crocheting, but I finished it. And I was afraid that because it used worsted weight yarn (and because crocheted fabric is a bit bulky) that I would look terrible in it, but actually, it's not that bad (aside from the anemic-looking calves and ankles in the picture, so desperately in need of some sun!!!). Oh, who am I kidding--I'd wear it anyway, because I'm proud that I was able to do it! Despite its laciness, the skirt is quite warm, although I suppose it should be, having used about 680g/1.5 pounds of yarn!!! Yes, those are snowflakes falling, blurred in the flash of the camera. The snow is really pretty, although quite deep, and it doesn't show any signs of stopping any time soon. The skirt does need a lining, which I was going to get fabric for today at the store, but I may not be going anywhere in this weather. I'm quite satisfied with the way the skirt fits. I thought it would be more form-fitting than it is, and it isn't, which is exactly what I wanted. I'm really enjoying crocheting. I'm more comfortable with it earlier on that I ever was with my knitting, maybe because I already knew the very basics of it (chain stitch, single crochet) from when I was taught as a young girl?

Next project--onto those "Rainy Day Socks"!
